Unless you are playing professionally or in a tournament that requires white balls…I don’t see why you can’t use the yellow all the time….even off the tee. I always use colored balls.
there is a ball that after you hit it ,it actually glows for7 hours check it on ebay it is perfectly legal unless you are in a comp that only allows you to have white balls.

I have never heard of any form of colorblindness that would negate your sight of whites and yet allow you to discern yellows…but Hey….I am not a Doctor
pinnacle gold yellow ball
they’re like £2.50 in my local pro shop
They’re inexpensive but perform very well across the board
Actually, i dont know what some people are playing, some LPGA players use color balls, so im assuming pga does, just they are usually lower quality, so no one uses them. I dont know how where you can find top of the line golf balls that are colored, but golfballs.com has a humongous selection of yellow golf balls

They arent the highest quality, but people like them and bought them and they are cheap, so you should check it out.
Rules 4 & 5 — Clubs and the Ball
You may carry no more than fourteen clubs.
Normally, you may not change balls during the play of a hole. However, if you damage or cut your ball, you may change the ball after first asking your opponent or fellow competitor.
you cant change balls, but you can ask officials in any competition if you can play with a yellow ball, because most likely you will be playing an ameatur event, so they might have some slack for your disability. Play with them on casual play, or tell your playing partner in a tournament or just casual if he could stand behind you and follow your shot, because thats what most playing partners should do and do most of the time. Dont worry about it, using either balls because either your companion can help you, or your official can help you
theres a bunch of links for yellow golf balls, but i thought id add some extra help in case
there are flashing golf balls, that flash red when they are hit for 5 minutes
ive never used them, but they are legal to use
if you have trouble with the yellow ball, you might wanna give these a try
get a gold sharpie and color your balls
thats what my friend does…not because she is color blind though..she just likes the colored balls
but im pretty sure it will look like it was originally yellow
and i know there is some yellow balls at academy but they are girls balls
